What was the highlight of Hostal Los Poetas
The room was really lovely and clean.
The room was really lovely and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for exploring Valparaiso and felt safe. Breakfast was good. The WiFi was excellent.
The bathroom was a let down compared to the rest of the property which was well kept. The bathroom wasn’t particularly clean, and toilet roll ran out a lot.

What was the highlight of Hostal Los Poetas
Greedy owner, really uncomfortable, awkward stay and don’t try to check in early!
Good central location, nice breakfast and comfortable bed. The staff we met were nice, just a shame about the owner.
We arrived at 7am after a night bus. The guy in reception was surprised to see us, he asked 4 times if we had received confirmation of our stay and I kept showing him the emails. He eventually said the hostel was empty so our room was available which of course we weren’t expecting as we knew check in was at 15.00. We took our bags to our room, came downstairs to pay, he was on the phone to the owner who told us that we would have to pay another night if we wanted to check in. We refused as we would only have used the room for 2 hours until it was light and safe to go outside. We were then told that we would have to leave as he needed to go out and we couldn’t be left alone in the hostel! We were absolutely shocked that they were kicking us out in pitch black at 7am with nowhere open to go. After much discussion with them, we decided that we didn’t want to give them any of our money so decided to cancel and find somewhere else but of course then as their only paying customer, they said we can stay until 9.30 but had to come back at 15.00 to check in but still asked us to pay at 7am! What a total disregard for the care and safety of your guests especially as we were the only ones there! Absolutely no atmosphere and it was a weekend, we did feel very awkward. No heating in the building so it’s get very cold, luckily you have a little heater in the bedroom. The kitchen I wouldn’t class as a kitchen - there is no oven/hob, just a kettle, toaster and microwave. The WiFi doesn’t work in the bedrooms and nowhere nice downstairs to sit and use it. We didn’t see a cleaner during our 4 days there. When we arrived the bathroom bin was half full and wasn’t emptied before we left, not nice. Wish we had cancelled after all and found somewhere with a little more going on.
